Questions & Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
- I've never been to counseling before. What should I expect?
- First sessions are about getting to know each other. There's no agenda or pressure. We'll talk about what brought you here, what you're hoping for, and how we might work together. It's completely normal to feel nervous — that's okay.
- How do I know if counseling is right for me?
- If something feels heavy, stuck, or hard to carry alone — counseling might help. You don't need to be in crisis. Many people come because they want to grow, understand themselves better, or simply have a safe space to process life.
- How long does therapy take?
- This varies enormously. Some people find what they need in a handful of sessions; others prefer an ongoing relationship. We review regularly and follow your lead.
- Do you offer telehealth / online sessions?
- Yes. We offer sessions via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform for clients who prefer it or cannot access in-person sessions.
- What is a sliding scale?
- A sliding scale means fees are adjusted based on your financial situation. We believe therapy should be accessible. Contact us to discuss — there's no shame in the conversation.
- Is what I share confidential?
- Yes, with very limited legal exceptions (e.g., if there is an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others). We will always explain confidentiality at the outset of our work together.
- What is clinical consultation, and is it therapy?
- Clinical consultation is for mental health and helping professionals — it is a space to discuss cases, ethical questions, and professional wellbeing. It is not personal therapy, though there may be overlap.
- How do I get started?
- Simply reach out via the contact form or email us. We'll schedule a free 15-minute call to see if we're a good fit — no commitment required.
